Master Bathroom Mood Boards
Mold determined that we will be renovating our master bathroom a few
years earlier than we intended. We are going to attempt to design the
space (mostly) ourselves. While Tony is working on the layout/drawing, I'm
gathering two different inspiration boards as a start to see if we can
make this work on our own.
OUR BATHROOM NOW
Thoughts:
- I'd love floor tile that hides my dark hair
- I like the idea of dark tile in the shower, maybe just on the floor
- I'd like a darker (navy? black?) vanity, but am also into the natural wood look
- We are trying to get a separate tub (I love to take baths) and shower (Tony loves a walk-in shower) in the space, but we may forego the tub and replace the one in the boys' bathroom with a bigger one someday for me. Tony says he hates showering in a tub, but he does like the inspiration pic below of the all white shower/tub combo with the glass door.
- We love the look of the faucets coming out of the wall above the sinks (but know that this is probably not going to happen since most pre-fabbed vanities have faucet holes drilled)
- Since Tony is so tall, we will do sconces instead of lights over the mirrors so he doesn't have to duck to see himself in the mirror
Inspiration photos:
This is my very favorite pic, I love most things in it. The black and gold mixed hardware, patterned floor tile, white everywhere else. Don't love the sinks above the countertop, I really want undermount sinks.
I like the 2 separate rectangular mirrors (in black or maybe wood) with sconces (I'd go for a different style) on the sides.
I like the patterned tile, the dark painted wall and the wood vanity combo. I do not like the sink, would definitely want undermount. And don't like the open vanity, need all drawers or cabinets.
Tony loves the way the tile looks all up and around the front of this tub. But we doesn't want to shower in a bathtub.
I love the black shower floor tile and white wall tile. I hated our white shower floor in the College house. I also like how this plays with the patterned floor tile, and I like that natural wood vanity peeking out. But we don't want the whole bathroom to scream "black and white" -- so maybe a dark gray on the floor, or another dark color that goes with the main floor tile.
We saw these mirrors at Ikea ($99) and Tony loves them
MOOD BOARD #1
(2 vanity options)
(2) OR
(2 mirrors) (3 sconces, left right and center of mirrors)
Floor tile
Shower floor tile
Shower wall tile
Sconces
Mirrors
Faucets
Faucets (wall mounted)
Vanity - custom? Not having luck finding these natural wood options in 80" length pre-fabricated, wooden options are often sold out in 72" as well.
Not sure about the open space at the bottom (need full storage) but this looks pretty close to what we'd want
MOOD BOARD #2
Faucets
Floor tile
Black vanity with Carrera top
Vanity pulls (although this particular pull is the wrong size for that vanity, I'd need to shop more)
Sconces
Mirrors (?)
Runner (totally inspired by that first pic)
Same shower floor and walls as above (black floor and white subway)
OUR BATHROOM NOW
THE PLAN WE HOPE WILL WORK
WIC = Walk in Closet. The red and green are a way of getting a longer vanity in there, closer to 80"
